Madonna's set to direct "W.E.," a biopic about the affair between King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson that led to the Brit royal abdicating the throne to marry his divorcee lover.

Madonna, was originally planning to play the part of Wallis, but has since reconsidered and is in talks with Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga. Vera Farmiga ("Up in the Air") is eyeing the plum role of Simpson. Madonna is writing the script with Alec Keshishian, who directed the multihyphenate in "Truth or Dare."

Former Miramax exec Colin Vaines and David Parfitt are producing the pic. This will be Madonna's second directorial effort; her first, "Filth and Wisdom," preemed at Berlin in 2008. Madonna’s directing credit is 2008’s ‘Filth and Wisdom’, which starred Richard E. Grant and Eugene Hutz, although she has served as a writer on documentary ‘I Am Because We Are’.

CAA is handling domestic sales while IM Global has international.


Madonna wants to sign up David Tennant for her W.E new film. Madonna is hoping the former ‘Doctor Who’ actor will take on the role of the monarch, who sensationally abdicated the British throne to live with the American divorcee in 1936.

A source said: “Madonna’s interest in directing a drama was first revealed a year ago.

“She put it on hold while going through her divorce but is really keen to get into directing again and has her eye on David, having loved his work on ‘Doctor Who’.”

‘W.E’ is still in pre-production and has a preliminary release date of 2011.

She announced the release of her third live album Sticky & Sweet on March 30, 2010. Salt is an upcoming 2010 American action thriller film directed by Phillip Noyce, written by Kurt Wimmer and Brian Helgeland, and starring Angelina Jolie, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Liev Schreiber. Tom Cruise was initially secured for the lead but the script was rewritten for Jolie.

After CIA officer Evelyn Salt (Jolie) is accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper agent, she goes on the run to try and clear her name. Chiwetel Ejiofor as Peabody, a CIA counterintelligence officer. Liev Schreiber as Winter, Salt's boss and friend.

Filming took place in 2009 between March and June on location in Washington, DC and New York. It is scheduled to be released on July 23, 2010. Principal photography took place mostly on location in New York and Washington, DC from March to June 2009, while re-shoots were done in December 2009. Jolie spent time training before filming to perform a lot of her stunts herself. Bonaventura said "She is so prepared and so ready and gung-ho, she'll do any stunt. We had her jumping out of helicopters, shooting, jumping off of all sorts of things and infiltrating places that are impossible to infiltrate". On May 29, 2009 filming was temporarily halted after Jolie suffered a minor head injury during filming an action scene. She was taken to hospital as a "precautionary measure" and was released the same day with no life-threatening injuries and filming was resumed the same day.

Christina Aguilera - Burlesque

In 2009, Variety confirmed that Christina Aguilera 'll be working in her 1rst feature film, a musical, titled Burlesque, which began shooting in November 2009. She 'll portray a small town girl who "finds love, family and success in a LA neo-burlesque club".

The film, distributed by Screen Gems, will be directed by actor and director Steve Antin who also wrote the script, which was revised by Susannah Grant. The film will co-star fellow singer Cher as the club's owner and headliner. The film will also feature Twilight star Cam Gigandet as her love interest, Stanley Tucci, and Kirsten Bell.

Christina Aguilera 'll contribute as a writer for the film's musical score and soundtrack which includes producers Danja and Tricky Stewart, and songwriters Claude Kelly and singer Sia. Burlesque is set for a Thanksgiving release next year and is currently in production in LA. Christina Aguilera appeared as a presenter alongside Cher at the 67th Golden Globe Awards.

Cher is a real great actress and it's great to see her do movies again. My mom has idolized Cher since she was a teenager so right now she only has Cher's movie MOONSTRUCK and album BELIEVE. Those two in my opinion are two of her best projects.

Kristen Stewart and British actress Carey Mulligan are on the shortlist for the 2010 Bafta Rising Star award. Kristen Stewart plays Bella Swan in the vampire series, while Mulligan starred in the Golden Globe-nominated An Education.

Taylor Swift started the evening as a consensus pick, and won three country awards to start things off. Then she proceeded to miss out on every pop award she was up for, including two key losses to most-nominated Beyonce. The Swift fans were packing up and heading home, when... There's a fumble on the field, and flowing blonde locks in the end zone! Swift closed the show by becoming the youngest artist ever to win Album of the Year. .

You'd hardly know Beyonce walked away with six Grammys, the most ever by a female artist in one night. Only two of them were presented on the telecast, and in an example of bad traffic control, she couldn't accept one of those—for Song of the Year ("Single Ladies")—because she was about to perform a major production number. Prior to this Christina Aguilera appeared as a musical guest for episodes hosted by Christopher Walken in 2000, Salma Hayek in 2003 and then again in 2006 with Alec Baldwin.

In regards to acting in film, Christina Aguilera's mentioned in several interviews that Christina Aguilera intends to pursue edgy acting roles similar to Angelina Jolie.

Christina Aguilera voiced a small singing part in the animated film Shark Tale playing a Rastafarian jellyfish in the film's closing musical number. The film's stars included, among others, Jolie herself.

In 2008 Christina Aguilera appeared in the Martin Scorsese documentary Shine A Light which chronicles a two day Rolling Stones concert in New York City's Beacon Theatre. The film features her performing "Live With Me" alongside Mick Jagger. Shine A Light premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and was released worldwide on April 4, 2008.

Claim of separation 'false as well as intrusive', say lawyers, as Pitt and Jolie begin action in London high court

As Hollywood's most famous power ­couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are used to every aspect of their life together being dissected in the world's media, whether it's rumours over yet another adoption, the meaning of a new tattoo, or their feelings about the other's exes.

But when the News of the World ran a front page story last month declaring the couple were splitting up after six years and as many children, and dividing their £205m joint fortune, the pair decided enough was enough, and wrote to the paper to demand an apology for these "false and intrusive allegations".

The tabloid refused to retract the story, or apologise, according to Pitt and Jolie's lawyers, and so yesterday the actors decided to sue. The couple "unequivocally" say that the story was false, and appear to be suing not for just for libel, but also for "misuse of private information", or privacy.

The action comes two years after the News of the World lost its privacy battle with Max Mosley when a high court judge ruled the F1 boss had a right to keep private his adventures with five dominatrices.

Pitt and Jolie began their legal action in the high court in London against News Group Newspapers, the News International subsidiary which publishes the News of the World. News Group is owned by Rupert Murdoch – as is 20th Century Fox, which made Mr and Mrs Smith, the film that gave the setting for Pitt and Jolie's blossoming love affair six years ago.

Keith Schilling of Schillings, their London lawyers, said yesterday the allegations had been reproduced in other newspapers. "The News of the World has failed to meet our clients' reasonable demands for a retraction of and apology for these false and intrusive allegations, which have now been widely republished by mainstream news outlets. We have advised them to bring proceedings, which they have now done."

Schillings said the News of the World article contravened the Press Complaints Commission code of conduct, which states that a significant inaccuracy, misleading statement or distortion "once recognised must be corrected, promptly and with due prominence, and – where appropriate – an apology published".

The law firm added that publication amounted to a serious misuse of private information; it was not required to disclose whether the information was true or false. "However in this case we can confirm unequivocally, and upon instructions, that the allegations published by the News of the World are false as well as intrusive," the firm said.

The News of the World alleged on 24 January that the couple visited a lawyer to begin thrashing out a separation deal and that, last month, they signed a deal to divide their wealth. The article also claimed their children would live with Jolie but Pitt would have visitation rights; the separation would occur imminently.

Pitt and Jolie have three adopted children – Maddox, eight, Pax, six, and Zahara, five – as well as Shiloh, three, and 17-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

Schillings also said some media reports falsely identified a woman called Sorrell Trope as the couple's lawyer. Trope gave a statement to Schillings saying: "I have had no contact from .... Angelina Jolie and/or Brad Pitt. I have never met your ... ­clients or had any involvement with either of them. The foregoing is true with respect to all other members of this firm".

The News of the World's story went round the world but was rubbished by news outlets such as TMZ.com, which broke news of Michael Jackson's death, and US celebrity magazine People.

Pitt and Jolie have never married. Pitt divorced Jennifer Aniston, in 2005 after five years of marriage. Jolie has been married twice, to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton; both marriages ended in divorce.

A spokeswoman for the News of the World declined to comment.

In his action against the paper in 2008, Mosley was awarded £60,000 damages, after the judge, Mr Justice Eady, ruled: "The law now affords protection to information in respect of which there is a reasonable expectation of privacy, even in circumstances where there is no pre-existing relationship giving rise of itself to an enforceable duty of confidence."
