Anne Hathaway's Worst Films

Anne Hathaway becoming JaneAnne Hathaway has made herself a highly regarded career, like many actresses Anne has had good movies and not-so-good movies. Here are 2 of two of her worst that we thought were mockery...

Becoming Jane
"Becoming Jane" is supposed to be about the love life of Jane Austen, author of "Pride and Prejudice." Too bad "Becoming Jane" and the film version of "Pride and Prejudice" are basically the same movie. Because of this, "Becoming Jane" seems to be redundant and unnecessary. To top it off, Keira Knightley's performance as the fictional Elizabeth Bennett is far more dazzling than Hathaway's portrayal of Jane Austen.

Hathaway plays the strong female type well, but Jane Austen's personality is a little too witty and biting for Hathaway. Knightley has a little more fire in her, and she brings that to the character of Elizabeth. After all, she has worked with pirates.

When watching "Becoming Jane," viewers may feel more fascinated by the landscape and settings than by the movie or acting. The homes and properties of the wealthy characters are lavish and provide an eye candy effect that is usually more interesting than the characters.

We have nothing against Anne Hathaway, but "Becoming Jane" is an overall flop. It is trumped by "Pride and Prejudice," mostly because of Keira Knightley's more sprightly performance of the Elizabeth/Jane role, but also because of its lack of passion.

Anne Hathaway Ella EnchantedElla Enchanted
"Ella Enchanted" is a story about a young girl, Ella, who had a spell cast on her as a baby. The spell is an obedience spell; therefore, Ella must obey all orders given to her.

The set-up of this movie is incredibly similar to Cinderella. Her name is Ella, and she has an evil stepmother and two snobby step-sisters who torment her. A prince is in search of a wife to be his princess, and there is a ball in which all the women desperately want to go to. All of this has been done before with Cinderella remakes in general.

Overall, "Ella Enchanted" is boring and lacks freshness. It doesn't produce much laughs and even Hathaway's performance is bland. There seems to be no connection between her and the character, as if she just wasn't that into it. "Ella Enchanted" is a failed attempt to put a new twist on an old story.

Beyonce Knowles - Barack Obama Loves Her

Beyonce knowles Louis vuitton tribute patch work Beyonce and Barack Obama... when inaugural concert, John Legend's video vaults to a whole other level just after the 6:45 mark, when Barack Obamas bump into Beyonce Knowles. The sound is a little muffled, but the transcript goes something like this…

Michelle Obama: "Mr. President, you didn't tell Beyonce about 'Single Ladies'? Your rendition?"

President Barack Obama: [chuckles] "Oh! I'm not like Justin. I didn't put on the outfit. But I didn't want my girls thinking that I couldn't, you know...I got a lil' something."

...then the President Obama does the Sasha Fierce hand-twirl move fr the "Single Ladies" video! (That'd be Step No. 6 in our definitive "Single Ladies" dance tutorial.) Un. Real. It's over quickly, but President's little "if you liked it then you should a put a ring on it" gesture certainly beats all the other "Single Ladies" YouTube tributes out there, wouldn't you say? And how amazing is it that the leader of the free world clearly knows all about Justin Timberlake's "Single Ladies" parody skit from Saturday Night Live?! This is sooooo much cooler than that time last year when Mitt Romney attempted to sing "Who Let the Dogs Out."

Kristen Stewart hurtled by Vampire romance "Twilight"...

Kristen StewartKristen Stewart hurtled by Vampire romance "Twilight" to the kind of fame that can turn a life into a roller coaster ride, so it seems appropriate that Stewart' new movie revolves around an amusement park.

This week, Stewart's Film, "Adventureland," which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, is one of a string of quirky movies Stewart, has starred-in since her 1st film at age 11.

But none of those movies ever brought Kristen Stewart the sort of attention Kristen has received the last two months since "Twilight" struck gold at box offices with more than $324 million worldwide since its November debut.

In twilight movie, Stewart portrayed Bella Swan, a love-struck teen adored by millions of young girls after they began devouring the series of books on which the movie is based.

"Adventureland" is a coming-of-age movie about a recent college graduate named James, played by "The Squid and the Whale" star Jesse Eisenberg, who takes a summer job at an amusement park.

There, he falls in love with a tortured but sincere young carnival worker named Em Lewin (Stewart) and finds that true love is an adventure in and of itself...

Angelina Jolie - Gone In 60 Seconds

Angelina Jolie Gone in 60 SecondsAngelina Jolie appeared in her 1st summer blockbuster, Gone In 60 Seconds In 2000, in which Jolie played Sarah "Sway" Wayland, ex-girlfriend of car-thief Nicolas Cage.

The role was small, and the Washington Post criticized that "all she does in this movie is stand around, cooling down, modeling those fleshy, pulsating muscle-tubes that nest so provocatively around her teeth."

Angelina Jolie later explained that the film was a welcome relief after the heavy role of Lisa Rowe, and it became her highest grossing movie up until then, earning $237 million internationally.

Anne Hathaway's Best Films

Anne Hathaway Hollywood starlet a BritishAnne Hathaway has built herself a highly regarded career, but like many actors Hathaway has had good movies and not-so-good movies. Here are 2 of her best works, that we thought were worthy of praise...

The Princess Diaries
The Princess Diaries is a comedy-drama film and the screen adaptation of Meg Cabot's 2000 novel of the same name. The film stars Anne Hathaway as Mia Thermopolis, a teenager who discovers that she is the heir to the throne of the fictional Genovia, ruled by her grandmother, Queen Clarisse Renaldi, who is portrayed by Julie Andrews. It also stars Heather Matarazzo as Mia's best friend Lilly Moscovitz, Héctor Elizondo as Renaldi's head of security, and Robert Schwartzman as Lilly's brother, who has a crush on Mia.

The movie itself is charming. Watching Mia's progression from an average teenager who pukes (literally) at the thought of public speaking to a royal figure is inspiring and fun. Mia's clumsiness is the cause of much of the movie's humor. During her first formal dinner as a princess, she starts a fire and causes chaos when a waiter trips over her as she picks up her dropped food off the floor. She undergoes a make-over, prepares to rule a country and deals with the press all while managing to stay true to herself. She embraces her newly acquired identity and intertwines it with her own personal one.

Mia's relationship with her grandmother, Queen Clarisse (Julie Andrews), is touching. They start off roughly, but gradually become as close as, well…grandmother and grandchild. Queen Clarisse teaches Mia about royal life while Mia teaches Queen Clarisse about average life with corndogs, arcade games, and convertibles. Queen Clarisse overcomes being just a queen to Mia and allows herself to put their family relations before their royal ones. Princess Diaries is a cute tale of friendship, the importance of family, and responsibility.

The Devil Wears Prada
The Devil Wears Prada is a 2006 comedy-drama film, a loose screen adaptation of Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel of the same name. It stars Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, a recent college graduate who goes to New York City and gets a job as a co-assistant to powerful and demanding fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep. Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci co-star in support of the two leads, as catty co-assistant Emily Charlton, and critical yet supportive Art Director Nigel, respectively. Adrian Grenier, Simon Baker and Tracie Thoms play key supporting roles. Wendy Finerman produced and David Frankel directed; the film was distributed by 20th Century Fox.

"The Devil Wears Prada" features Anne Hathaway along side the legendary Meryl Streep in which Hathaway plays a junior assistant to the editor-in-chief (Streep) of a fashion magazine titled Runway. Andy Sachs (Hathaway) immediately finds the job difficult and is looked down on by virtually everyone in the office. Without any training, Andy must figure out how to do her job on her own. Streep's character, Miranda Priestly, is harsh, blunt, and usually just plain mean. She calls Andy fat and insults her fashion sense, as well as demands her to be on-call at all times. Andy even had to miss her boyfriend's birthday to be at Miranda's side at a formal event where she had to know all of the guests' faces and names since Miranda is supposed to, but does not.

Despite Miranda's icy personality, Andy seems to want her to like her. She strives to prove to Miranda and her co-workers that she is capable and can excel at her job. Andy is a likeable and strong woman who does not let others hinder her motivation. Hathaway fits the part and is believable as Andy.

In the end, Andy walks away from the job that, according to many other characters in the movie, "millions of girls would kill for." She takes a position at a local newspaper instead. The last time she sees Miranda is on a street in New York. Andy is walking on one side of the street when she spots Miranda getting into her limo on the other. Miranda glances at Andy who waves, but does not acknowledge her. Once Miranda is in the car, she smiles to herself. Perhaps Andy's biggest accomplishment is breaking into the interior of Miranda Priestly, who tells the man hiring Andy that he would be an idiot not to take her. "The Devil Wears Prada" demonstrates that there is softness hidden under even the hardest of surfaces-and that is encouraging.

Kristen Stewart "I'm so glad they didn't have to find somebody else; we already had him (Taylor Lautner )"

Kristen Stewart twilight bad taste taylor LautnerKristen Stewart tells MTV News "I'm so glad they didn't have to find somebody else; we already had him!" "I didn't understand all the deliberation on [whether to bring him back]. But now that it's set, we can all rest."

Taylor Lautner, 16, was worried he wouldn't be rehired because his character, Jacob Black, is totally different in New Moon: Taylor Lautner's a foot taller and is supposed to look 25. So Lautner's packed on about 26 pounds of muscle.

Stewart says. "He's really buff!" "He definitely is. It took him a lot of time." "really excited" to shoot New Moon later this year.

"It's such a machine now. All of a sudden, this movie has become [something bigger]," she says. "With all the expectations — usually, you make a movie and think, 'If it touches people, great; if it doesn't, then you move on to the next one, and no one's personally affected by it.' [But] everyone's really sensitive with any changes right now.

"Everyone needs to be on the same page to make the same movie [as the original Twilight was]," she goes on. "Or else it will be a very disoriented project."

Kristen Stewart has faith in new director Chris Weitz. "Chris is — on top of him being a really sweet guy — he is entirely devoted," Stewart says. "And he's very clearly not doing the movie just because it's the next big thing. He really likes it a lot."

Angelina Jolie - Girl, Interrupted

Angelina Jolie Girl InterruptedAngelina Jolie took the supporting role of the sociopathic Lisa Rowe in Girl, Interrupted (1999), a film that tells the story of mental patient Susanna Kaysen, and which was adapted from Kaysen's original memoir Girl, Interrupted.

While Winona Ryder played the main character in what was hoped to be a comeback for Jolie, the film instead marked her final breakthrough in Hollywood. Angelina Jolie won her 3rd Golden Globe, her 2nd Screen Actors Guild Award and an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Variety noted, "Jolie is excellent as the flamboyant, irresponsible girl who turns out to be far more instrumental than the doctors in Susanna's rehabilitation".

Madonna - Maverick

Madonna EvitaMadonna founded her own entertainment company in 1992, Maverick, consisting of a record company (Maverick Records), a film production company (Maverick Films), and also music publishing, television, merchandising and book-publishing divisions.

Maverick was a joint venture with Time Warner as part of a $60 million recording and business deal. The deal gave her a 20% royalty, equal at the time to Michael Jackson's. The 1st release from the venture was Madonna's first publication S_x, a book consisting of s_xually provocative and explicit images photographed by Steven Meisel. It caused media controversy but sold 500,000 copies in the U.S.

At the same time Madonna released her 5th studio album Erotica. It peaked at number two in the U.S., becoming one of her least successful records. Its title track peaked at #3 in the U.S. Hot 100. The album also produced five further singles; "Deeper and Deeper", "Bad Girl", "Fever", "Rain" and "Bye Bye Baby".

Diva Beyoncé Knowles and D.C. police

Beyonce knowles mtvBeyoncé and her hubby, Jay-Z, were told by D.C. police they had to get out of their vehicle and walk because the roads were blocked off, Beyonce refused.

Earlier this week, as Brooklyn rap legend Jay-Z was returning from his rehearsal for his pre-inaugural performance, Jay-Z and his wife, Beyoncé Knowles, were stopped by D.C. police. The cops told the couple that they would have to get out of the car and walk the next four blocks to their destination, due to the roads being blocked off.

According to bossip.com, Beyoncé refused to walk anywhere in her heels. The cops refused to let them pass, but luckily the secret service happened to be in the area, to give the couple a ride back to their hotel so they could change, and then return them to the theater. When word got back to Beyoncé on how her Diva-like actions as of lately conflict with her pretend humble, "good-girl" persona, she got upset and has been quoted saying, “I’m not this round the clock diva looking for attention. I’m way more comfortable out of the spotlight and just chilling out with my family. “I’m very quiet. I love to paint. I love to watch TV, though it seems I never get to do it. I love a lot of old television shows. I still love the Cosbys. I also love the Fresh Prince.”

Kristen Stewart rides roller coaster of fame

Twilight series theories Kristen Stewart Comic conKristen Stewart to the kind of fame that can turn a life into a roller coaster ride, so it seems appropriate that her new movie revolves around an amusement park.

"Adventureland," which premiered this week at the Sundance Film Festival, is one of a string of quirky movies Stewart, She has starred-in since Stewart' 1st film at age 11.

But none of those movies ever brought Kristen Stewart the sort of attention she has received the last two months since "Twilight" struck gold at box offices with more than $324 million (232 million pounds) worldwide since its November debut.

In the movie, Kristen portrayed Bella Swan, a love-struck teen adored by millions of young girls after they began devouring the series of books on which the movie is based.

Kristen Stewart is a child of Hollywood - the daughter of a stage manager and a script supervisor - and Stewart' LA upbringing provided a close up view of fame that has helped her handle the 3-ring media circus of Hollywood celebrity.

Stewart told Reuters at Sundance. "I grew up on a set," "I don't take it as seriously, and then at the same time I take it more seriously than anyone. It's like a balance."

"Adventureland" is a coming-of-age movie about a recent college graduate named James, played by "The Squid and the Whale" star Jesse Eisenberg, who takes a summer job at an amusement park. There, he falls in love with a tortured but sincere young carnival worker named Em Lewin (Stewart) and finds that true love is an adventure in and of itself.

Miramax Films will release the movie in March, following its premiere at Sundance -- the No. one United State gathering for independent film. At the festival, a quirky and offbeat love story like "Adventureland" can gain the kind of media attention it needs to lure audiences to box offices.

"Adventureland" director Greg Mottola, who made 2007 hit comedy "Superbad," said he has counselled Stewart about handling fame and fortune because the microscopic scrutiny by the media can be overwhelming for a teenager. "I think there are some people who have some innate movie star gene that lets them just walk into that, like a George Clooney," he said. "But it didn't happen to him when he was that young. So I feel for her, that's a really hard thing."

Kristen Stewart may be young, but She already is something of a veteran and appears to handle the media glare well and she wants to stay active in Hollywood. Already Stewart has 16 movies on her filmography including "Panic Room," "The Cake Eaters," "Into the Wild" and "What Just Happened." Her first role was 2001's "The Safety of Objects," about suburban families whose lives intertwine.

With upcoming roles as rocker Joan Jett in a biopic and again playing Bella in "New Moon," the next instalment in the "Twilight" franchise, Stewart said she has no immediate plans to attend college."Not now, maybe if I can grow up a little bit," she said. "But not yet, I can't. It's just I've had a lot of demands put on me for quite a long time."

Angelina Jolie - Critics in Pushing Tin and The Bone Collector

Angelina JolieIn 1999, Angelina Jolie starred in Mike Newell's comedy-drama Pushing Tin, co-starring John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton, & Cate Blanchett. She played Thornton's seductive wife. The film received a lukewarm reception from critics and Angelina Jolie's character was particularly criticized. The Washington Post wrote, "Mary (Angelina Jolie), a completely ludicrous writer's creation of a free-spirited woman who weeps over hibiscus plants that die, wears lots of turquoise rings and gets real lonely when Russell spends entire nights away from home."

Angelina Jolie then worked with Denzel Washington in The Bone Collector (1999), an adapted crime novel written by Jeffery Deaver. She played Amelia Donaghy, a police officer haunted by Amelia' cop father's suicide, whoshe reluctantly helps Washington track down a serial killer. The movie grossed $151 million worldwide, but was a critical failure. The Detroit Free Press concluded, "Jolie, while always delicious to look at, is simply and woefully miscast."

"Rescue Me" became the highest-debuting single by a female artist in the United State chart history at the time, entering at number fifteen and peaking at number 9. "Justify My Love" became a number-one dance hit in the United State.

In 1991, Madonna starred in her 1st documentary film, Truth or Dare (known as In Bed with Madonna outside North America), which chronicles her Blond Ambition World Tour, as well as her personal life. The following year, Madonna appeared in the baseball film A League of Their Own with a portrayal of Italian American Mae Mordabito, and recorded the film's theme song, "This Used to Be My Playground" which became a U.S. Billboard Hot 100 number one hit.
