Madonna, in 2008, she released her 11th studio album, Hard Candy.
Hard Candy was lauded by Rolling Stone as an "impressive taste of her upcoming tour." Hard Candy album debuted at #1 on the UK Albums Chart, where Madonna achieved 10 #1 albums. Hard Candy also debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with over 280,000 copies sold.
Hard Candy album received mostly positive reviews worldwide, though some critics panned it as "an attempt to harness the urban market". Its lead single "4 Minutes" reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100. Hard Candy single scored Madonna her 37th Billboard Hot 100 top ten hit, making Madonna the artist with the most top ten hits in the history of the chart, surpassing Elvis Presley.
In the U.K., Madonna retained her record for the most #1 singles for a female artist, this being her 13th.
